TBT: Everybody's A Winner

I took this pic of the Asbury Park carnival with my cell phone and even though the quality wasn't the best, I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to summer nights again. I love carnivals in particular because I think it's where you really get to see everyone's true light shine. Those lazy strolls through cotton candy and funnel cake scented air.. Passed the guy (no matter what age) who always gets suckered into a carni's "everybody's a winner" pitch, trying to impress his date... Through the kids trying to scam their parents for another ride.. How women become a little more dainty, getting lost in the flashing lights.. Men becoming a little more macho, walking with their chests puffed out, whether or not they have a tot on their shoulders. How even the kids who don't have any money, get crafty in their quest for fun. It all seems like for that moment.. Magic. What I think I love about this boardwalk is that it doesn't have this all of the time like some other shore towns. If this was available to you all of the time, it wouldn't be as special. I took this photo as my husband bent down to tie my shoe for me, something that I don't know if either would do normally, both of us surrounded by endless summer and the magic and light of my city by the sea.
